By far the fastest growing trend in our industry was the rise of a form of permanent cosmetics called microblading. Since last Spring, we have received at least 20-30 insurance requests per month from estheticians who are either adding microblading to their current menu or who are starting their own business venture.
What Is Microblading?
For those that don’t know what this treatment is, microblading is a new permanent cosmetics technique that fills brows out or reshapes them by drawing on tiny lines that look like individual hairs. It’s for those who want to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps, or fill in over-plucked brows, and it is the perfect way to add the all-important arch.
A well skilled technician, intensively trained and experienced, will leave the eyebrows looking full and natural. The pigment is semi-permanent, lasting about six months.
After a brief consultation, the technician will measure and mark the ideal angles needed to shape perfect brows. Once a bit of numbing cream is applied, the technician makes individual strokes with the pen, creating semi-permanent hairs one-by-one.
Tools of the Trade
Micro blade pen, several shapes of blades/needles, eyebrow ruler, several shades of semi-permanent pigment, and a numbing cream for comfort.
Prices for the procedure vary from $200 to $1,000 per session depending on the expertise of the technician.
If you are looking at adding this to your current services ABE offers a training course for this procedure as well as microblading insurance coverage as a standalone policy for $1,120. You also have the option to combine microblading with your current spa/salon coverage with a $799 rider. Call 800.444.7546 or visit www.alliedbeautyexperts.net to sign up.
